I enjoyed my two reserve manhattans for $15 each. seated at a nice table to the far right of the bar area on the other side of the partition. This was an old farm barn with a very high ceiling, which was renovated with nice chandeliers.

The new restaurant is adjacent to a new brewery. My family of seven with two children had a 5:30pm dinner reservation for my first time here. After conversing with others leaving at the same time, it was readily apparent our opinion was not singular. The servers, kitchen, staff and management should remain ever so proud their efforts resulted in perfect achievement for this patron. It sounds bland…but it was anything but….and unlike anything else this desertaholic has ever tasted. The bourbon butter cake is another item I would never have ordered but for Beanies insistence. The reward came as they were seared perfectly with a little smoke amid a savory sauce that wasn’t overpowering. We almost ordered another! I never would have thought to order the scallops but we were told it was exceptional and we could never duplicate it. We were afraid might be a ittle contrived … and delivered in both taste and texture. He perfectly paired wines without just gauging us with the most expensive. He helped guide our order to make certain we ordered all the highlights. set the tone immediately by ensuring we were allowed to take in everything and never feel rushed. It is a hike from Alexandria or DC but well worth the ride and the difficulty securing a reservation. All the reviews were nice but did not compare to the actual experience. Also, the cream brulé was bland and my own carrot cake is far superior.

The table side bacon could be presented much better than using a butane torch and clothes pins - not very professional or creative. This place deserves much more talent in the kitchen. No doubt this was by far the worst sea bass I've ever had. We had two orders and both sea bass portions were identical which leads me to believe they came prepackaged. The spiral carrots were soggy and hidden under the satisfying sticky rice. If I can do better at home, why bother spending a premium price? The popular sea bass was uninspiring with a glaze that tasted like it came out of a bottle. The big reason for the average rating is the food. The bartender is very competent but we did receive a martini that was short. They should have spent some money on sound baffling to improve the acoustics. The venue is very beautiful, well maintained and very clean. We will probably return here for lunch or dinner to give them another chance. My total bill was $345 excluding gratuity. My two review ratings of 4 and 3 stars averages 3.5 stars. I reduced my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars, since I feel their rating is closer to 3.5 stars rather than 4 stars. Our waiter Austin was average in serving our needs. I could not eat all of my lunch, which I took home for my dinner that evening. It included sauteed filet tips cooked in a garlic sesame soy sauce with sauteed carrots and bok choi, served over white rice and topped with green onions. We also shared and enjoyed their calamari for $15. They may have a staffing issue here like many other restaurants during the post Christmas holiday week. I noticed that after we ate all of our bacon the two bacon towers remained on our table for a long time until finally one of the towers was removed, but not the second tower until much later. Each tower had four bacon slices as usual. We also shared and enjoyed two bacon towers for $16 each or $32 total. I usually prefer my manhattans up rather than on the rocks, but our waiter did not inquire regarding my preferred preparation. The Reserve Manhattan is prepared with Woodford Reserve bourbon, black walnut bitters, sweet vermouth, amarena cherry, up or on the rocks. I started with and enjoyed my two Reserve Manhattans on the rocks for $15 each. My family of eight were here for the first time for lunch after Christmas with our. At that time we all enjoyed our experience.
